Strategy Development and Implementation
compass.jpg

Strategy has five elements, the five P's according to Henry Mintzberg (1987), which include:

  • Plan - a conscious and purposeful intended course of action
  • Ploy - a manoeuvre to outwit an opponent or competitor
  • Pattern - a description of the required stream of actions
  • Position - a means of locating the organization in its environment
  • Perspective - how the organization perceives itself and its abilities

We work with our clients to help them think through their strategies in each of these dimensions in an organized and participative manner. We then ensure they develop concrete action plans for implementation. We pay particular attention to generating discipline in the implementation of the strategy because experience has shown that having a great strategy is only about 5% of the solution; execution is 95% of the recipe for success.
